The FAST-TRAC (Targeted Research to Advance a Cure)  Awards are designed to catalyze the creation or enhancement of potential treatments for AS with particular emphasis placed on gene modification, disease modification, and symptom-alleviating therapeutics, along with diverse platforms and tools for high-throughput drug screening. FAST-TRAC Awards are either one- or two-year grants, made in one-year allocations, with a maximum recommended funding of $150,000 per year. In an effort to attract excellent young researchers to join the field of AS, these awards are granted to promising new scientists looking to start a significant research program focusing on translational research. Applicants are within their first five years of an academic position at an institution/university. New Investigator Awards are either one- or two- year grants, made in one-year allocations, with a maximum recommended funding of $150,000 per year. The FAST IMPACT (Innovative Methods to Advance Angelman Syndrome Treatments Towards Clinical Trials) Award is available to provide substantial support for comprehensive, translational research platform projects, spanning from pre-clinical research to human candidate drugs, which can then be advanced to the stage where Investigational New Drug (IND) application preparation is enabled. The FAST IMPACT grant welcomes proposals from researchers presenting innovative ideas and exciting proof-of-concept work, with the laser focus of advancing therapeutic opportunities to humans living with Angelman syndrome. Fellowships provide the necessary resources to support and encourage the development of young scientists who benefit from the mentorship of prominent researchers. Applicants must hold a postdoctoral fellowship position at an institution/university at the time of award submission and throughout the proposed awarded period. The hope is that our fellows will later assume professorial roles in departments around the world, which currently have no representation in Angelman syndrome research to further the mission of FAST. Applicants may request up to $50,000 per year for up to two years for salary, fringe benefits, and consumable costs. These are smaller, one-time grants aimed to provide funds for needed equipment, reagents, or research costs to further promising projects on Angelman syndrome.
