FAST Poland Organized the 1st Polish National Angelman Syndrome Conference

International Angelman Syndrome Day (IAD) is an opportunity to raise awareness and knowledge worldwide. Therefore, FAST Poland had organized the 1st Polish National Angelman Syndrome Conference ‘Between Dreams and Reality: Actions to Cure Angelman Syndrome’, which aimed to spread the most up-to-date knowledge about AS.

The central theme of the conference focused on the individual struggling with Angelman syndrome and his/her family. The conference addressed current topics, both in terms of explaining the different stages of clinical trials and providing specific information about preclinical and clinical research being conducted in the field of AS.

Topics such as how individuals living with AS change over the years, epilepsy, and the incredibly important aspect of keeping AS individuals safe were discussed. In addition, experts talked about coordinated care in rare diseases, as well as issues related to carers' quality of life and economic aspects.

The conference was held online.

The total number of registered guests reached 164, with nearly 100 participants joining online. A partner of the event was the University Clinical Centre in Gdańsk.

The conference agenda (English version) can be read here.
