At the age of 18 months, Izzie Mae was diagnosed with Angelman syndrome and my wife, Mercedes, made it very clear from that day that Izzie Mae will not be defined by this condition. While it’s certainly tightly woven into our daily lives, she lives a life fulfilled and is a local celebrity – I'm often referred to as “Izzie’s Dad” and I couldn’t love that title more! We’ve witnessed her unique love change the lives of others, build strong bonds with neurotypical classmates, and teach important life lessons to her siblings – all of which have been blessings beyond words. We believe in a cure and we’re here for every step of the unfolding of her journey.
