Introducing the Innovation Seed Grant: Supporting Early-Stage Angelman Syndrome Research

As many of you know, advancing scientific research is no easy task. One of the biggest hurdles researchers face is securing research grants. Large funding organizations typically require researchers to show early proof-of-concept data before they can apply for and ultimately receive substantial support. Without this initial seed funding, many promising ideas struggle to get off the ground, as they need preliminary data to demonstrate their feasibility and potential.

Recognizing this challenge, FAST is thrilled to announce the launch of the Innovation Seed Grant. This new funding opportunity is designed to give researchers the resources they need to collect the initial data that could open the door to future larger-scale funding opportunities. The Innovation Seed Grant will provide between $10,000 and $50,000 to support innovative, early-stage research that could lead to new treatment strategies, the identification of therapeutic targets, or the discovery of biomarkers that will help us better understand and treat AS.

This grant is open to individual researchers and collaborative teams, including partnerships between academic institutions and industry. We are particularly looking for proposals that explore bold, high-risk, high-reward approaches representing research that has the potential to lead to transformative discoveries. This new funding opportunity is an exciting step forward for the AS community, and we hope it will help accelerate the pace of transforming novel ideas into strong research programs.
