Behind the Scenes ~ Science Director, Allyson Berent

Please join us in welcoming Allyson Berent to the position of Science Director on the Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics (FAST) Board of Directors. Berent Due to the rapid interest in Angelman Syndrome research and the advancement of sponsored clinical trials on the horizon, her expertise, time and energy will help catalyze vital scientific content for our community on a more regular and consistent basis. Allyson will serve as a key liaison in the translation of details regarding FAST funded science and impending clinical trial developments to help keep families better informed during this new and exciting medical landscape. Allyson Berent-Weisse is a veterinarian in New York City. She received her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degrees from Cornell University. She is a member of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and is a specialist in Internal Medicine and Interventional Radiology/Interventional Endoscopy. She currently holds the position of the Director of Interventional AlisonQEndoscopy at one of the largest specialty animal hospitals in the world, located in New York City. She has spent the last 10 years performing clinical research and designing various clinical trials to develop and evaluate novel therapeutics and medical devices in dogs and cats. Allyson has two children; her daughter Quincy has AS. We have great faith that Allyson's contributions will strengthen FAST's reach and connect its important work to broader audiences, while further strengthening the board's breadth of talent in fulfilling its mission to identify therapeutics and an eventual cure for Angelman Syndrome.
